Night
She picked up her phone, never in a million years would she thought she'll ever hear his voice again. He muttered a soft 'hello' and she stood there, stunned. She was shaking so badly that even she herself didn't know why. She tried to open her mouth but not a word came out. Flashbacks kept running through her mind. 5 hour late night phone calls with him, literally on the phone with him till she fell asleep, non stop texting with him during the day. Her phone was practically quite useless ever since then.
She didn't know how to react or what to say. There's just so much she wanted to tell him, but yet, she couldn't bring herself to utter a word. She missed him, more than words can describe. For the first time in a long time, she smiled. Like a fool, she just stood there, smiling and listening to his voice that calmed her chaotic soul.
Eventually, he hung up. "I still love you...", she said softly, knowing that she was too late. He had already moved on with another girl, obviously forgotten about her and most certainly erased all his feelings for her. She'd rather let him hate her than not remember her at all. She'd rather allow him to be happy with someone else than holding him back just because she still loves him.
They never had a chance to say goodbye properly.
